This a response to Lauras Blog on Smoking....Check it out...and feel free to respond back to my post whether you disagree or not!! :D
I think that the media plays a big part in changing our opinions on things. When we look at people on the street smoking we think of how digusting it is, and how rotten they look when smoking, and that's not even talking about the smell of the smoke. However, when looking at it on the 'Big Screen' we see the glamorous side of smoking, and therefore we DO find it sexy. Many celebrities do not even smoke, yet when playing some roles in films or being plastered on the front of glossy magazines, we can see that smoking looks cool AND sexy. When in the pubs and clubs however the smoking gets to your eyes and the smell gets into your clothes, so why would anyone fin this sexy? The media therefore plays with us in allowing us to think that smoking is sexy as we see all the bad boys lighting up their cigarettes. I do not like when people smoke, however, i have to admitt smoking is VERY SEXY on guys in the movies!!
